Hernando Leal Gómez

​Hernando Leal-Gómez is a versatile and innovative international musician. His musical work focuses in the fields of historically informed performance practice and the contemporary music. 

 

Appearances as a soloist and chamber musician in major music centers has taken him to many countries in Europa, Asia, North and South America.

 

As a focus of his artistic work, he understand a stylistically versatile orientation: both in the field of historical performance practice of ancient music as well as in the field of classical and modern playing techniques have led him to play on a variety of historical and modern flutes. 

 

​​An important part of his flute repertoire is dedicated to the interpretation of contemporary music by composers such as: Salvatore Sciarrino, Heinz Holliger, Louis Andriessen, Toshio Hosokawa, Klaus Huber, Robert Dick, Jürg Wyttenbach, Rudolf Kelterborn, Toru Takemitsu, Kazuo Fukushima, Isang Yun, and Blas E. Atehortua among others.

Artistic activity

 

Regular appearances as a soloist and chamber musician in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Spain, Portugal, Japan, Argentina, Italy, the Czech Republic, Greece, Hungary, Poland, Colombia, Peru, Ecuador and Mexico.

Several musical projects and performances in major music centers such as the Teatro Real in Madrid, Hiroshima Center Hall,

Several CD productions, among others with music from old writings of St.Egidien in Nuremberg and with the ensemble "La Stagione Frankfurt" with music by C.P.E. Bach.

 

He has participated as a soloist with concerts for flute by C.P.E. Bach, Johann Quantz, Franz Benda, G.P. Telemann, Vivaldi, Carl Nielsen, Franz Doppler, Carl Stamitz and J. S. Bach, among others.

 

He was semifinalist at the polish International Flute Competition in Krakow. He received a special award at the Mazda Young Musician Competition, the Frankfurt Bach Foundation Scholarship Prize and the Carolina Oramas Scholarship Prize among others.

 

He was also honored as “Illustrious Citizen of Villa de Leyva” for his cultural contribution.
